This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route will take you to the majestic Cima del Volcán Barú in the beautiful area. The trail spans a distance of 12.696 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1598.0 meters, so be prepared for a challenging trek.
As you start your journey, you will come across the Estacionamiento parking area right at the beginning of the trail. Make sure to park your vehicle here and begin your adventure on foot. The trail will lead you through stunning natural landscapes, with the Barú volcano in view at around 6.35 kilometers from the starting point.
Midway through the hike, at 2.07 kilometers from the start, you will find the Área de acampar campsite. This is a great spot to take a rest and maybe even spend the night if you're planning a multi-day trip. Further along the trail, at 3.72 kilometers from the start, you will encounter the El pocito spring, offering a refreshing stop for hikers to replenish their water supply.
Finally, after a strenuous climb, you will reach the ultimate destination - the Cima del Volcán Barú. This viewpoint rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views, making all the effort worthwhile.
