This challenging out-and-back hiking route will take you to the beautiful area around Refuge de Presset in the French Alps. The 8.98 kilometers long trail features an elevation gain of 774 meters, with a duration of around 4 hours.
Starting from the parking area at the trailhead, you will pass by a couple of springs around 2.62 kilometers into the hike. These natural springs offer a refreshing stop for hikers to refill their water bottles. Further along the trail at 3.76 kilometers, you will reach Col Bresson, a scenic saddle that provides panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
As you continue on, after 4.49 kilometers, you will find Lac de Presset, a picturesque alpine lake nestled in the mountainous terrain. Although not directly on the trail, the lake is worth a short detour for a peaceful break by the water. Nearby, at the same distance, is Refuge de Presset, an alpine hut where hikers can rest and recharge before heading back.
