This challenging hiking route around Puy de la Gagère offers stunning views and diverse points of interest along the way. The trail covers a distance of 7.397 kilometers with an elevation gain of 181 meters, making it a difficult but rewarding trek.
Starting at the parking area, hikers will embark on a clockwise circular route that takes them through a variety of landscapes. About 2.13 kilometers into the hike, you'll come across a water source, providing a perfect opportunity to refill your water bottle.
As you continue onwards, approximately 3.38 kilometers from the start, you'll reach the peak of Puy de la Gagère, offering panoramic views of the surrounding area. Nearby, you'll also find the Pot de la Croix information point, which can provide insights into the local area.
Further along the trail, at around 2.01 kilometers from the beginning, you'll encounter the historic Borne «33» boundary stone, adding a touch of cultural significance to your hike.
Additionally, be on the lookout for cave entrances along the way, such as Scialet Abel about 1.21 kilometers from the start and Scialet des Deux Gardes at 1.46 kilometers, which although not directly on the trail, add an element of mystery to the journey.
