This hiking route takes you through the beautiful area surrounding Chemin de la Cabane de Caillaous. The trail is an out-and-back type, with a total distance of 11.804 kilometers and an elevation gain of 675 meters, making it a difficult hike that will challenge even experienced hikers.
You will start your journey at the parking area located at the beginning of the trail. Make sure to bring plenty of water and check the weather forecast before starting your hike. As you make your way along the trail, you will come across several points of interest.
About a third of a kilometer into the hike, you will find an information point where you can learn more about the area. As you continue, at around 3.25 kilometers from the start, you will reach Cabane Pacheu, a shelter where you can take a break and enjoy the surroundings.
Further along the trail, at 5.05 kilometers from the start, you will encounter the ruins of Cabane de Larrecq, adding a touch of history to your hike. At 5.49 kilometers, you will find Laquet de Gourgue Sec, a natural water feature perfect for a refreshing stop.
Midway through the hike, at 5.9 kilometers from the start, you will reach Cabane de Caillaous, another shelter where you can rest and refuel. This is also a great spot to enjoy the scenic views of the area.
As you make your way back, you will pass by Laquet de Caillaous and Laquet de Gourgue Sec again, offering more opportunities to take in the beauty of the natural landscape. Towards the end of the trail, at 5.79 kilometers from the start, you will find an information point where you can learn more about the area before completing your hike.
