This hiking route takes you through the stunning area surrounding Karstein and Lachtalalm-Sattel. With a total distance of 12.393 kilometers and an elevation gain of 870 meters, this trail is categorized as extremely difficult, so be prepared for a challenging hike.

Starting at Alpengasthof Hochkogl, you will embark on an out-and-back journey that will lead you to some remarkable points of interest along the way. About 1.1 kilometers from the start, you will come across a water feature, followed by another one at 1.28 kilometers. These are great spots to rest and refill your water supply.

As you continue on, you will encounter Birg Schafalpe, a shelter located 4.94 kilometers from the start, providing a cozy spot to take a break. Further ahead, at 6.2 kilometers, you will reach Hochkogel, a viewpoint offering breathtaking vistas of the surrounding landscape.

Towards the end of the trail, at 6.2 kilometers, you will find Karstein, another peak worth exploring before heading back. Before you conclude your hike, make sure to stop by Alpengasthof Hochkogl for a meal or refreshments to recharge after your challenging trek.
