This extremely difficult hiking trail takes you to the Grand Peygu area, offering stunning views and challenging terrain. The route is an out-and-back type, spanning a total distance of 28.689 kilometers with an elevation gain of 2077.0 meters, making it a physically demanding adventure that is best suited for experienced hikers.
As you begin your journey, you will come across various points of interest along the way. About 1.32 kilometers from the start, you will find a parking area for convenience. Further along the trail at 1.83 kilometers, there is a natural water source perfect for refilling your bottles. Additionally, you will encounter another parking area at 1.27 kilometers, while a drinking water station and a restaurant called Hôtel d'Izoard are located at 1.32 kilometers from the start.
Midway through the hike at approximately 12.51 kilometers, you will find another natural water source to replenish your supplies. As you continue along the trail, you will pass by Col de Peygus, a notable saddle point located at 11.68 kilometers. Along the way, you can also enjoy breathtaking viewpoints at 0.19 and 1.05 kilometers from the start, providing a picturesque break during your journey.
Towards the end of the trail, at 14.34 kilometers, you will reach the peak known as Grand Peygu, offering a rewarding summit experience. It is recommended to bring plenty of water, snacks, and appropriate gear for this challenging hike.
