Welcome to the Matallana hiking route, a challenging 8.736-kilometer circular trail that will take you through the stunning natural beauty of the area.
Starting at the parking area, you will embark on your journey, surrounded by lush greenery and the peaceful sounds of nature. As you make your way along the trail, you will come across the Peresa del Batán, a beautiful water feature located 3.75 kilometers from the start. Take a moment to admire the cascading water and rejuvenate yourself before continuing your hike.
Around 2.17 kilometers into the route, you will find the Fuente de la Barrera, a drinking water source where you can refill your water bottle and stay hydrated. Continuing on, at the 4.19-kilometer mark, you will encounter a picturesque waterfall known as Chorrera de Rovellanos, followed by two more waterfalls, each more captivating than the last, at the 4.27-kilometer point.
At 1.1 kilometers from the start, you will reach Fuente la Borriqueña, a refreshing spring where you can rest and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings. As you near the end of your hike, at 4.21 kilometers, you will have the opportunity to take in sweeping views from a peak, although it is slightly off the main trail.
With a total elevation gain of 229 meters, this hike offers a moderate to difficult challenge, suitable for those with some hiking experience. Be sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and sunscreen, and always check the weather forecast before setting out on your adventure.
