Welcome to the Azkenatz hiking route!

Located in a beautiful area, this moderate difficulty out-and-back trail spans a distance of 4.786 kilometers with an elevation gain of 306 meters. The estimated duration for this hike is approximately 1 hour and 52 minutes, so be prepared for a moderate workout.

As you start your journey, you will come across various points of interest along the trail. At the beginning, you will find a parking area for your convenience. Further along, about 0.66 kilometers into the hike, you will encounter the Dolmen Matrakola, an archaeological site steeped in history.

Continuing on, at around 0.7 kilometers, you will reach the Túmulo Ermitako Lepoa 1 and Túmulo Ermitako Lepoa 2, both significant archaeological sites. Just a short distance away, at 0.66 kilometers, you'll spot the Cromlechs Ermitako Lepoa 1-2, followed by the Menhir Ermitako Lepoa at 0.62 kilometers.

If you need to refill your water bottle, a drinking water station is located approximately 121.75 meters off the trail. As you progress further, at 2.39 kilometers in, you will reach the peak of Azkenatz, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Along the way, you'll also encounter informative sites such as El puerto de Belate and Belateko zohikaztegia, providing insights into the region's rich cultural and natural heritage.

As you approach the turnaround point, Aldegi peak at 1.2 kilometers, and Ermitako lepoa saddle at 0.7 kilometers, mark the end of your outbound journey. Remember to check the weather forecast before embarking on this adventure and ensure you have an adequate supply of water and snacks. And most importantly, don't forget your camera to capture the stunning vistas along the way.
