This hiking route takes you through the beautiful surroundings of Lamma Island in the Islands District of Hong Kong. The Lamma Island Family Walk is an out-and-back trail that offers a mix of natural beauty and cultural landmarks.
Starting from the trailhead near the southern tip of the island, you will pass by Lamma Youth Camp, a popular camping site for outdoor enthusiasts. As you continue on the trail, you will come across two stunning beaches where you can take a break and enjoy the coastal views.
Further along the route, you will find Yung Shue Wan/Sok Kwu Wan Rainshelter, a peaceful spot to rest and seek shelter if needed. Nearby is Kamikaze Cave, a historic cave entrance that provides a glimpse into the island's past.
As you trek back towards the starting point, you can stop at various viewpoints and benches along the way to take in the panoramic views of the island. There are also BBQ pits where you can have a picnic and enjoy some local cuisine.
Towards the end of the hike, you will reach a peak with breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Make sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and sunscreen as the trail is 4.4 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 143 meters. The hike is of moderate difficulty, suitable for hikers of all skill levels.
