This extremely difficult hiking route takes you to Monte Cimone, a challenging but rewarding destination. The 13.838-kilometer trail features an elevation gain of 934 meters and is estimated to take around 5 hours and 32 minutes to complete. Before embarking on this journey, make sure to bring plenty of water and check the weather forecast as conditions can change quickly at higher elevations.
Starting at the trailhead, you'll come across the Bivacco Sandro del Torso shelter about 5.86 kilometers into the hike. This shelter provides a resting spot for weary hikers and is located just off the trail. Continuing on, you'll encounter the Malga Montasio restaurant at the beginning of the route, offering a convenient dining option before you start your ascent.
As you make your way towards Monte Cimone, be sure to stop at Forca de la Viene, a saddle point around 6.03 kilometers from the beginning. This natural feature provides stunning views of the surrounding landscape and is a great place to take a break.
About 6.92 kilometers into the hike, you'll reach the peak of Monte Cimone, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the area. Along the way, you'll also pass by useful amenities such as parking areas and information points to enhance your hiking experience.
Halfway through the trail, you'll find a drinking water station to refill your supplies and stay hydrated. This will be crucial as you continue your challenging trek towards the summit. Remember to pace yourself and take breaks as needed to conquer this demanding yet invigorating hike.
