This extremely difficult 14.525-kilometer circular hiking route takes you through the breathtaking area of Monte Forato / Prestreljenik. The trail offers a challenging elevation gain of 1361 meters and a duration of approximately 6 hours and 45 minutes.
Starting at the parking area located at the beginning of the trail, hikers will pass by the Vodni vir spring early on, providing a refreshing stop. Continuing onwards, you will encounter the Dom Petra Skalarja alpine hut at around the 5.21-kilometer mark, a perfect spot to take a break and enjoy some stunning views.
As you progress along the trail, you will reach the impressive Prestreljeniška škrbina / Forcella della Torre del Forato saddle at approximately 6.41 kilometers, followed by the Monte Forato / Prestreljenik peak at 7.25 kilometers. These iconic landmarks offer panoramic views of the surrounding natural beauty.
Further along the hike, you will come across the Prestreljeniško okno / Foro di Prestreljenik at around 6.44 kilometers, an interesting rock formation worth exploring. The route also includes various peaks such as Kačarjeva glava, Glava nad Kraljiščem, and Glava nad Malim dolom, providing diverse terrain for hikers to traverse.
Near the end of the trail, at approximately 6.86 kilometers, you will find a cave entrance, adding a touch of mystery to your adventure. Finally, as you make your way back to the starting point, take in the beauty of the surroundings and be sure to check out the ruins located at 2.84 kilometers from the trail.
