This extremely difficult hiking route takes you on a 14.5-kilometer journey with an elevation gain of 1361 meters, lasting approximately 6 hours and 45 minutes. The destination is the stunning Monte Forato / Prestreljenik area.
Starting from the parking area at the trailhead, you will begin your hike with a gradual ascent. Along the way, you will come across several points of interest. About 2.25 kilometers into the hike, you will find the Bivak gorskih reševalcev shelter, offering a place to rest and refuel. Further along the trail at the 5.21-kilometer mark, you will reach the Dom Petra Skalarja alpine hut, a great spot to enjoy panoramic views and perhaps grab a meal. Continuing on, you will pass by the Vodni vir spring at the 1.1-kilometer mark, offering a refreshing break.
As you trek further, you'll encounter the Prestreljeniška škrbina / Forcella della Torre del Forato saddle at around 6.41 kilometers into the hike, followed by the Monte Forato / Prestreljenik peak at the 7.25-kilometer mark. These locations provide breathtaking views and photo opportunities.
