This hiking route takes you through the beautiful area surrounding Tungurahua Refugio. The trail is 24.894 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 2637 meters, making it an extremely difficult hike that will challenge even experienced hikers.

As you start your journey, you will come across a parking area right at the beginning of the trail. Moving forward, at 2.2 kilometers from the start, you will find the Monumento a la Virgen, a historic monument and viewpoint worth visiting.

Midway through the hike, at 12.45 kilometers from the start, you will reach Tungurahua Refugio, an alpine hut where you can take a break and enjoy the stunning views. From here, you can also see the Mirador del volcan, another great viewpoint along the trail.

On your way back, at 3.56 kilometers from the start, don't miss the Llegada del pondoa waterfall and the wayside shrine nearby. These natural and historic landmarks add to the beauty of the hike.

Throughout the trail, you will encounter various facilities such as benches, viewpoints, restaurants, and information points. It is advisable to bring plenty of water, snacks, and to check the weather forecast before embarking on this challenging hike.
