This challenging 11.374-kilometer circular hiking route, known as Route forestière des Bachassons, is located in a beautiful area with stunning natural landscapes in the Vercors region. The trail offers an elevation gain of 585 meters and is estimated to take around 4 hours and 5 minutes to complete.
As you begin your hike, you will pass by "Place du Grand Creux" parking area at the trailhead. After a short distance, at 0.11 kilometers from the start, you will find a restaurant and a bar where you can grab a meal or refreshments before continuing your journey. Nearby, there is also a fountain for replenishing your water supply.
About halfway through the hike, at 4.74 kilometers from the start, you will reach "Col de la Berche," a picturesque saddle offering panoramic views of the surrounding area. Continuing on, at 5.58 kilometers from the start, you will encounter a viewpoint that provides a beautiful vantage point for taking in the scenery.
Before completing the loop, at the end of the hike, you will come across the town of Saint-Agnan-En-Vercors, where you can find more information about the area at the tourism office.
Due to the length and elevation gain of the trail, this hike is considered difficult and is recommended for experienced hikers.
