Starting at the parking area, you will embark on an 8.371-kilometer out-and-back journey that includes a total elevation gain of 436 meters. The route is rated as difficult due to its length and elevation, so be prepared for a strenuous hike.

Along the way, you will encounter several points of interest. At the beginning of the trail, you will find informative signage providing insights into the local area. As you continue, make sure to stop by the drinking water station located at 158.132 meters from the trail for a refreshing break.

Midway through the hike, you will come across viewpoints that offer stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area. Take a moment to appreciate the natural beauty that Emerald Mountain has to offer.

Towards the end of the route, you will reach Howelsen Hill, a peak that adds a sense of accomplishment to your hike. As you make your way back, additional informational points will provide further knowledge about the area.
