Welcome to the hiking route along the Chemin du Refuge d'Avérole! This 8.49-kilometer circular trail offers a challenging hike with an elevation gain of 276 meters, taking approximately 2 hours and 39 minutes to complete.
The trail starts in a picturesque area with convenient parking at the beginning. As you begin your journey, you will come across the historic Wayside Cross and Wayside Shrine of Oratoire Notre-Dame de la Garde, adding a touch of cultural interest to your hike. Further along, you will pass by the beautifully serene water body at a distance of 4.13 kilometers from the start.
As you continue on the trail, you will encounter informative spots such as L'Illaz and Derrière Saint-Antoine, offering insights into the surroundings. Marvel at the historic Wayside Shrines along the way, including Oratoire Saint-Antoine du Bec and Oratoire Notre-Dame des Neiges, which is located just off the trail.
Midway through your hike, you will reach Passerelle de Vincendières and Randonnées dans la vallée d'Averole, providing useful information about the area. Be sure to stop by the Site Natura 2000 for more information about the natural habitat surrounding the trail.
Towards the end of your hike, you will reach Avérole and Le Chemin du Saint-Suaire, offering a deeper connection to the history of the region. Lastly, you will pass by Plan du Pré and La prise d'eau de l'Avérole before reaching the trailhead again.
