This challenging hike will take you on the Tour du Pic du Midi d'Ossau trail, a 10.616-kilometer out-and-back route with an elevation gain of 759 meters. The estimated duration for this hike is 4 hours and 21 minutes, so be prepared for a full day of trekking.
The trail starts at a parking area located just 50 meters from the trailhead. As you begin your journey, you'll come across a spring about 270 meters into the hike, where you can refill your water supply if needed. Further along the trail, at around 2.66 kilometers from the start, you'll reach Col de Soum de Pombie, a saddle that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
As you continue on, you'll pass by Col de Peyreget at 4.71 kilometers from the start, another saddle worth stopping at to admire the scenery. Be sure to stay hydrated as you trek along, especially when you reach the water sources at 5.31 kilometers into the hike.
Along the route, you'll also encounter informative signs at various points, providing insight into the natural and historical significance of the area. Keep an eye out for these markers, located about 2.66 kilometers into the hike and at a distance of 14.56 meters from the trail.
