Get ready for an extremely difficult hiking adventure to Torkopf! This 15.757-kilometer out-and-back route will test your endurance with a total elevation gain of 948 meters. The estimated duration for this challenging hike is around 6 hours.
Starting off at the parking area, the trail leads you through picturesque landscapes, with the first point of interest being the historic wayside cross at 0.35 kilometers from the start. As you continue, you will pass by the Faulbaumgarten Alm alpine hut at 3.29 kilometers, offering a great spot to take a rest and admire the surroundings.
Around the midway point, at 7.17 kilometers, you'll find the Steinberggruber water source, providing a refreshing stop to refill your water bottles. Further up, at 7.88 kilometers, is the Torkopf peak, a must-see for panoramic views of the area.
On the way back, take a moment to relax at the saddle point at 7.7 kilometers, before reaching the wayside crosses and benches scattered along the trail for a well-deserved break. Information points are also available along the route to learn more about the area's history and wildlife.
