This extremely difficult hiking route takes you to the majestic Monte Vettore in a beautiful natural setting. The trail spans a distance of 22.8 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1123 meters, making it a challenging but rewarding adventure.
Starting at the parking area located right at the trailhead, you'll begin your journey towards Monte Vettore. About 2.57 kilometers into the hike, you'll come across Fonte di Valle Mosto, a refreshing spring where you can replenish your water supply. Further along the trail at 6.12 kilometers, you'll encounter two more springs for additional hydration.
As you continue your ascent, at 11.4 kilometers into the hike, you'll reach the impressive peak of Monte Vettore. Take in the breathtaking panoramic views before making your way back. Along the way back, consider stopping at Rifugio Tito Zilioli, a wilderness hut located at the 10.04-kilometer mark, for a rest or a meal.
Midway through your return journey, you'll pass by Forca di Presta, a saddle offering a picturesque vantage point. Further along at 9.98 kilometers, you'll reach Sella delle Ciaule, another notable saddle along the trail.
Throughout the hike, you'll also come across informative signs and markers, such as Croce Zilioli and various information points providing insights into the area's natural and historic significance.
Given the length and difficulty of the trail, it's important to come prepared with plenty of water, snacks, proper hiking gear, and to check the weather forecast before embarking on this challenging trek. Make sure to pace yourself and take breaks as needed to fully enjoy the experience.
