This extremely difficult out-and-back hiking route will take you through a stunning area with a distance of 13.593 kilometers and an elevation gain of 478 meters. The total duration of the hike is estimated to be around 4 hours and 20 minutes.
Starting off at the parking area near the trailhead, you will pass by a fountain approximately 1.76 kilometers into the hike, providing a perfect spot to refill your water supply. Further along the trail, at around 4.4 kilometers from the start, you will find another drinking water source to stay hydrated.
As you continue on the trail, you will come across the San Gregorio / Harriaundi peak, located about 6.15 kilometers from the starting point, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surroundings. Nearby, at the 6.8-kilometer mark, the Santa Bárbara / Urrutxaga peak awaits, showcasing its natural beauty.
Around the 6.2-kilometer mark, you will encounter the ruins of the Doneztebeko monasterioa / Ermita de San Esteban, providing a glimpse into the historic past of the area. Along the way, you will also find benches at various points, such as at 1.72 kilometers, offering a place to rest and take in the scenic views.
Before heading back, make sure to check out the Urriztondo peak at a distance of 1.7 kilometers from the start, offering a serene atmosphere. Additionally, there are more drinking water facilities and benches conveniently located along the trail for your convenience.
Due to the length and elevation of the hike, it is recommended to bring an ample water supply, snacks, and proper hiking gear.
