This challenging hiking route in the Langhaxenturm area offers a total distance of 6.839 kilometers with an elevation gain of 705 meters, taking approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes to complete. The trail is classified as difficult due to its length and elevation changes.
Starting from the trailhead, hikers will first come across a parking area located right at the beginning of the route. As you continue, about 0.15 kilometers into the hike, you will reach the Kemater Alm, a restaurant and alpine hut where you can rest and refuel before your journey.
Around the 1.24-kilometer mark, you'll find a bench for a quick break, followed by another bench at 1.5 kilometers. At approximately 1.89 kilometers, the Adolf-Pichler-Hütte, offering accommodation and dining options, is conveniently located along the trail.
For those interested in climbing, the Klettersteig Steingrubenkogel (via Ferrata) is situated about 3.41 kilometers into the hike, but it's not directly on the trail. Additionally, at the 3.24-kilometer mark, you'll find the Kleine Ochsenwand peak.
Further along the route, at around 3.42 kilometers, the Langhaxenturm, a rock formation, can be observed. Keep in mind several other rock formations, including the Kronennadel, Mittlere Nadel, Westliche Nadel, Melzernadel, Nadelsockel, Südliche Nadel, and Sonderbarer Turm, are also located around the 3.41-kilometer mark.
Various informational points and a memorial are scattered along the trail to provide insights into the area's history and geological features.
