Welcome to the Queens Zoo hiking route! This circular route offers a super easy hike with a total distance of 1.441 kilometers and no elevation gain, making it perfect for all skill levels.
Starting at the trailhead, you'll pass by convenient parking areas to leave your vehicle before beginning your adventure. The first point of interest you'll encounter is the Queens Zoo, located approximately 0.28 kilometers from the start of the trail. Here you can explore various animal exhibits and learn more about the wildlife.
Continuing on the trail, at around 0.14 kilometers, you'll come across the Fountain of the Planet of the Apes, a unique water feature that adds a touch of serenity to your hike. Further along, at 0.3 kilometers, you'll find the Waterfowl Marsh, where you can observe bird species in their natural habitat.
As you progress, additional attractions such as the Feltman Carousel, Sea Lion Store & Cafe, and the Education Center will capture your attention. Keep an eye out for the Aviary, located at 0.63 kilometers from the start, where you can admire a variety of bird species.
Towards the end of the hike, you'll pass by various domestic animal exhibits, including Andean Bears, Bald Eagles, and Canadian Lynx, all adding to the wildlife experience. Be sure to also visit the Bison & Pronghorn enclosure at 0.58 kilometers and the Thick-billed Parrot exhibit at 0.4 kilometers.
Throughout the route, you'll find several facilities such as picnic sites, bicycle parking areas, and drinking water stations to enhance your hiking experience. Remember to bring water, wear comfortable shoes, and check the weather forecast before embarking on this leisurely hike.
