This challenging 8.039-kilometer circular hiking route leads to the beautiful Rifugio Celso Gilberti in the stunning area of the Julian Alps. The trail starts at a parking area called Piazzale Slovenia, where you can leave your car before embarking on this adventure.
As you begin your journey, you'll pass by the delightful Hotel Canin and the Sport Hotel Forte, where you can stop for a quick bite to eat if needed. Approximately 1.66 kilometers into the hike, you'll come across the Pozzo a SW della Sorgente Bareit cave entrance, adding a sense of mystery to your trek.
Around the 3.79-kilometer mark, you'll reach the Rifugio Celso Gilberti, a cozy alpine hut where you can rest and enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Along the way, you'll also find Bar Funivia, a perfect spot to recharge with a refreshing drink.
With an elevation gain of 767.0 meters, this hike is considered difficult and suitable for experienced hikers. Make sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and proper hiking gear. It's also important to check the weather forecast before setting off, as conditions in the mountains can change rapidly.
