This hike to Pic de Malcaras is a challenging 8.02-kilometer out-and-back route with an elevation gain of 1181 meters, taking approximately 4 hours and 48 minutes to complete. The trail starts in a beautiful area with parking available nearby for convenience.
Along the way, hikers will come across various points of interest. At the beginning of the trail, there is a parking area where you can leave your vehicle. Further into the hike, about 3.22 kilometers from the start, you will find a water source for refilling your water bottles.
Around 0.06 kilometers into the hike, you will reach Orris du carla - Vicdessos, a shelter for a quick rest stop. Continuing on, at a distance of 1.76 kilometers from the start, there is another shelter called Cabane de Lauzes - Abri Pastoral, providing a place to take a break.
As you trek further, you will encounter the Col de la Oussade, a saddle located 3.49 kilometers from the start, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Close to the summit, at 4.01 kilometers from the start, is the peak called Pic de Malcaras, which marks the endpoint of the hike.
