This hiking route to Pisco is an extremely difficult 17.814-kilometer out-and-back trail with an elevation gain of 1784 meters, taking approximately 8 hours and 35 minutes to complete.
Starting at the parking area, the trail winds through the breathtaking scenery of the area. Along the way, hikers will come across various points of interest. About 0.15 kilometers from the start, there is a campsite perfect for a quick rest before continuing the journey. At 3.76 kilometers from the start, you'll find a historic wayside shrine to explore.
As you trek further, at 4.28 kilometers from the start, you'll reach Refugio Perú, an alpine hut where you can take a break and enjoy the mountain views. Continuing on, at 5.67 kilometers, you'll encounter Laguna Matacocha, a beautiful water feature off the trail.
Midway through the hike, at 6.16 kilometers, Campo Moreno offers another camping opportunity for those looking to spend the night. Finally, reaching 8.91 kilometers from the start, you'll arrive at the peak, Pisco. Take in the stunning panoramic views before making your way back.
