This hiking route will take you through the scenic area of Westerberg. The trail is an out-and-back type, starting at the parking area near Parkplatz Waldhotel. As you begin your hike, you will come across the Zanthierplatz shelter and information point, where you can learn about Der Harz für Mountainbiker and the historical significance of the area at Hans Dietrich von Zanthier-Platz memorial.

Continuing on the trail, you will pass by the Ilsestein rock formation and the Blankschmiede and Große Vögel des Waldes informational points. Further along the route, you will find a picnic site and the Waldhotel Am Ilsestein restaurant for a rest stop.

As you approach the turnaround point, you will reach the Westerberg peak, offering a stunning viewpoint of the surrounding landscape. On the return journey, be sure to stop by the various benches and informational points along the trail to fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty and history of the area.

With a distance of 4.431 kilometers and an elevation gain of 188 meters, this hike is rated as easy in terms of difficulty.
