This hiking route takes you through the stunning alpine terrain of Punta il Villano. The trail is 14.847 kilometers long with an elevation gain of 1256 meters, making it extremely difficult and suitable for experienced hikers.
As you start your journey, you will come across several points of interest along the way. At the beginning of the trail, you will find the Parcheggio Cortovaretto parking area, where you can leave your vehicle before embarking on the hike. Just a short distance away, you will also find drinking water stations to refill your water bottles.
Midway through the hike, you will reach Lago delle Rane, a picturesque mountain lake that offers a peaceful spot to rest and take in the breathtaking views. Nearby, you'll find Rifugio Amprimo, an alpine hut where you can take a break and enjoy some refreshments.
Further along the trail, you will encounter Rifugio Toesca, another alpine hut offering accommodation and facilities for hikers. As you continue towards the end of the route, you will pass by Il paradiso delle Rane, a restaurant where you can enjoy a meal before heading back.
Near the end of the trail, you will reach Porta del Villano, a natural saddle, and Punta il Villano, a peak with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. These landmarks mark the turnaround point of the out-and-back route.
