Starting at an elevation of 600 meters, you will embark on an out-and-back journey with a total distance of 20.19 kilometers and an elevation gain of 105 meters. As you begin your trek, you will pass by various points of interest along the way. You will come across a parking area at the start, followed by the historic Marterl wayside shrine. Further along the route, you will find the alpine hut known as Peilsteinhaus where you can take a break and enjoy the picturesque surroundings.

For sustenance, there are restaurants like Gasthof am Holzschlag and Schützhaus Karner am Holzschlag along the trail. Additionally, there are picnic sites and viewpoints where you can relax and take in the stunning views of the area.

As you continue on, you will encounter cave entrances such as Gamseckkammer, Rattenkluft, and Rattenloch. Make sure to stay hydrated by visiting the natural spring along the way.
