The Sentiero delle Rocche is an extremely difficult 16.212-kilometer circular hiking route with an elevation gain of 767 meters, set in a picturesque area. The hike is estimated to take about 5 hours and 40 minutes to complete.
Starting off at the trailhead, hikers will find convenient parking facilities nearby. As you begin your journey, you'll come across a medieval castle just a stone's throw away from the trail. Further along, there is a cozy cafe for a quick break and some refreshments.
Continuing on, you'll encounter a stunning viewpoint where you can pause to take in the breathtaking scenery. Along the trail, there are several options for sustenance, including a restaurant and multiple drinking water stations.
As you make your way through the hike, you'll come across a medieval bridge named Ponte medievale, a great spot for a picnic. Midway through the route, you'll find an information point providing details about the area.
Further ahead, at around 4.26 kilometers into the hike, you'll discover Fontana della Spina, a natural spring where you can refill your water bottles. A bit further at 6.18 kilometers, there's the entrance to Grotta della Renenedda, a cave to explore.
On the way back, at 7.24 kilometers into the hike, there's another rewarding viewpoint to enjoy. Before reaching the endpoint, stop by al Castello, a restaurant offering delicious local cuisine. Lastly, be sure to refill your water supply at the drinking water station located 81.681 meters from the trail.
This challenging hike is best suited for experienced hikers. Make sure to bring plenty of water, wear appropriate hiking gear, and check the weather forecast beforehand.
