This hiking route takes you through the beautiful area of Cape Epic in the Overstrand Local Municipality. The trail is an out-and-back route with a total distance of 7.615 kilometers and an elevation gain of 108 meters, making it a difficult hike that is suitable for experienced hikers.
As you begin your journey, you will come across the Mercury parking area, located right at the start of the trail. It offers limited wheelchair access and there is no fee for parking. Continuing on, about 2.85 kilometers into the hike, you will find a natural water source around 197 meters from the trail. It's a perfect spot to rest and refill your water bottles.
Further along the trail, at approximately 3.64 kilometers from the start, there is another water source closer to the trail, just 39 meters away. This provides another opportunity to rest and hydrate before continuing on. Additionally, at 3.81 kilometers into the hike, there is another water source located just 10 meters from the trail, making it easily accessible for hikers.
As you make your way back, around 2.41 kilometers from the start, you will find the Plaaskombuis restaurant. This is a great spot to stop and grab a meal or snack before completing your hike.
