This extremely difficult 15.048-kilometer out-and-back hiking route will take you to Nichols Peak, offering breathtaking views and challenging terrain.
Starting at the designated parking area near the trailhead, you will begin your journey towards Nichols Peak. As you hike along the trail, you will come across the Midway Chalet, located at around 2.91 kilometers from the start, where you can take a break and refuel before continuing your ascent.
Around 6.78 kilometers into the hike, you will find a natural water source, perfect for refilling your water supplies. Further along the trail, at approximately 7.52 kilometers from the start, you will reach Nichols Peak, a prominent natural peak offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area.
It is important to note that there is a memorial located off the trail, as well as an information point nearby, so be sure to stay on the designated path to avoid getting off track. Additionally, there is a drinking water station at around 2.89 kilometers from the start, providing a convenient spot to hydrate.
With an elevation gain of 599.0 meters, this hike is not for the faint of heart. Make sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and proper hiking gear. Check the weather forecast before heading out, as conditions can change rapidly in mountainous areas.
