The hiking route to Rainbachköpfl is an extremely difficult 14.69-kilometer out-and-back trail with an elevation gain of 1169 meters. The trail starts at a parking area and meanders through the beautiful alpine landscape.
Along the way, hikers will pass by various points of interest. At 6.32 kilometers from the start, you will come across the Plauener Hütte, an alpine hut where you can take a rest and enjoy some local refreshments. Further along, at 2.31 kilometers from the start, you will find the Adlerblick restaurant, offering a stunning view of the surrounding mountains.
For those in need of a water refill, there are two water points on the trail. The first one is located at 6.4 kilometers from the start, while the second one is only 0.28 kilometers away from the start.
As you continue your hike, you will encounter several benches where you can take a break and soak in the scenic views. One of them is the 'Bankl zum Genießen' at 3.88 kilometers from the start, offering a perfect spot to rest and enjoy the surroundings.
At around 7.35 kilometers from the start, you will reach the Rainbachköpfl peak, providing a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding area. After taking in the views and exploring the peak, you can head back the way you came to complete the out-and-back trail.
Due to the length and elevation gain of the hike, it is recommended to bring plenty of water, snacks, and to check the weather forecast before embarking on this challenging journey. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking gear and be prepared for a strenuous but rewarding adventure to Rainbachköpfl.
