The Staffkogel hiking route is located in a beautiful area with stunning mountain views. This challenging out-and-back trail spans approximately 9.7 kilometers and offers an elevation gain of 776 meters, making it a difficult hike that will take around 4 hours and 10 minutes to complete.
As you begin your adventure, you will come across some points of interest along the trail. At the start of the hike, you will find a convenient parking area to leave your vehicle. Feel free to visit the Lindlingalm restaurant and alpine hut nearby for a delicious meal or refreshments before setting off on your journey.
Approximately 2.13 kilometers into the hike, you will reach a natural water source where you can refill your supplies. Further along the trail, you will encounter the Oberreiter Joch saddle at 3.9 kilometers from the start, followed by the Staffkogel peak at 4.84 kilometers. Be sure to take a break at the Ossmannalm restaurant, open from 09:30 to 17:00, located 1.36 kilometers into the hike for a well-deserved rest.
For those seeking additional adventure, there is a climbing area at the Hochseilgarten and Hochseilpark Saalbach-Hinterglemm along the trail. You can also explore the historic wayside cross at 0.13 kilometers and the information point midway through the hike.
Throughout the trail, you will find several benches for resting and taking in the magnificent surroundings. Remember to bring plenty of water, wear appropriate hiking gear, and check the weather forecast before embarking on this challenging trek.
