This hiking route is an extremely difficult 11.648-kilometer out-and-back trail that leads to the stunning Pic de la Belle Étoile in the southern face of the mountain. The trail begins at Le Pleynet, where you can find the Office de tourisme and gather any necessary information before embarking on your journey.
As you start your hike, you'll come across the Rose des Prés information point, located at 0.81 kilometers from the beginning of the trail. This is a good spot to learn more about the flora and fauna in the area. Along the way, you'll also encounter the Salle Polyvalente, which is a versatile venue for various activities.
As you continue on, at around 5.13 kilometers from the start, you'll reach the magnificent Pic de la Belle Étoile. This prominent peak offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, making it a perfect spot to take a break and soak in the beauty of the mountains.
Throughout the hike, you'll find several water sources close to the trail around the 5.75 to 5.82-kilometer mark, providing a refreshing opportunity to refill your water bottle and rest before tackling the rest of the trail.
Please be aware that the trail includes an elevation gain of 1415 meters, so be prepared for a strenuous uphill climb.
