This extremely difficult 15.692-kilometer circular hiking route in the Pennacchio area offers a challenging yet rewarding experience for experienced hikers. With an elevation gain of 884.0 meters, this route will take approximately 5 hours and 50 minutes to complete.

Starting at the parking area, hikers will first pass by the picnic site at Prato di Campoli, just 0.39 kilometers from the start. Shortly after, at 0.57 kilometers from the start, there is the opportunity to refuel at the Ristorante il Faggio.

As hikers continue along the trail, they will reach Passo Fossa dell'Ortica at 3.49 kilometers from the start, a beautiful natural saddle to take a break and enjoy the surrounding scenery. Further along the trail at 6.68 kilometers from the start, hikers will come across the historic monument Epigrafe di Pozzo Faito, followed by the boundary stone Cippo 180 at 6.6 kilometers and Cippo 179 at 6.69 kilometers.

The highlight of the hike is reaching the peaks of Pennacchio and Rocca Gilardi at 7.16 kilometers from the start, offering stunning panoramic views of the area. It's important to note that Rocca Gilardi is a bit off the main trail, approximately 130 meters away.
