This hiking route to Black Butte offers a challenging trek through the beautiful wilderness. With a total distance of 17.12 kilometers and an elevation gain of 691 meters, this trail is classified as extremely difficult, so be prepared for a strenuous journey.
The hike begins at the parking area, located at the trailhead, where you can leave your vehicle before embarking on the adventure. Along the way, you'll come across several points of interest, such as informational sites that provide insight into the area's history and wildlife. These sites are spaced out along the trail, with some closer to the beginning and others further along at 3.17 kilometers, 3.36 kilometers, and 7.77 kilometers from the starting point.
Additionally, there is a campsite, Black Butte Creek, located about 3.44 kilometers from the trail. This could be a great spot to rest and refuel before continuing your journey. Remember to check for any fees or regulations before setting up camp.
As you make your way towards Black Butte, you'll encounter two viewpoints offering stunning vistas of the surrounding landscape. These viewpoints are located at 7.77 kilometers and 8.56 kilometers from the start of the trail, providing a perfect opportunity to pause and take in the scenery.
