The hiking route to Pointe de Merdassier is a challenging out-and-back trail that covers a distance of approximately 5.9 kilometers with an elevation gain of 802 meters. The duration of the hike is estimated to be around 3 hours and 22 minutes.
Starting from the parking area at the trailhead, hikers will make their way through the picturesque landscape, with the first point of interest being a wayside shrine located at around 2.95 kilometers from the start. This historic site offers a glimpse into the local culture and traditions.
Continuing on, at approximately midway through the hike, hikers will reach the Col de Merdassier, a scenic saddle point that provides stunning views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.
As you approach the final stretch of the trail, you will encounter an information point where you can learn more about the local flora, fauna, and geology of the area. Finally, reaching the endpoint at Pointe de Merdassier, hikers will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views from the peak.
It is important to note that the trail passes by a farm called La ferme de l'étale, situated off the main path. Make sure to stay on the designated trail to avoid trespassing on private property.
