Located in the beautiful Harz mountain range, the trail to Hirtenstieg offers a challenging and rewarding hiking experience. This out-and-back route covers a distance of 12.102 kilometers with an elevation gain of 522.0 meters, making it extremely difficult but perfect for experienced hikers looking for a challenge.
Along the way, you will encounter several points of interest. At the beginning of the trail, you will find the Nationalparkhaus Schierke, where you can gather information about the area before embarking on your journey. As you continue on, you will come across the Eckerloch shelter, a perfect spot to take a break and enjoy a picnic amidst the stunning natural surroundings.
Midway through the hike, you will arrive at the Brocken peak, the highest point in the Harz mountains. Take in the breathtaking views and explore the Brocken garden nearby. Further along the trail, you will find the Brockenuhr and the Gipfelstein Brocken, both landmarks worth visiting.
