This challenging hiking route takes you to Aldapita, offering stunning views and a varied terrain to explore. The trail covers a distance of 6.608 kilometers with an elevation gain of 558 meters, making it a difficult trek that is recommended for experienced hikers.
Starting off at the trailhead, you will pass by José María Martínez de las Rivas monument at the beginning of the hike. As you continue along the trail, you will come across a convenient parking area where you can leave your vehicle. Make sure to pack plenty of water and snacks, as there are no drinking water facilities along the trail until you reach Collado Aldape, approximately 2.97 kilometers from the start.
As you trek further, you will reach Collado Aldape, a scenic saddle point that offers a great spot to rest and take in the surrounding landscapes. From here, you can continue on to Aldapita peak, located 3.3 kilometers from the start. The peak provides panoramic views of the area and is a rewarding destination for hikers.
On your way back, you can stop at Batzoki, a bar located near the trail for a well-deserved refreshment before completing the hike. Keep an eye out for the Comandanta cave entrance, approximately 0.82 kilometers from the start, for an interesting geological feature along the trail.
