Chemin de l'Autan is a challenging hiking route that covers a distance of 7.389 kilometers with no elevation gain. The trail is an out-and-back route, starting from the parking lot at Entrée de Lasserre and leading to various points of interest along the way.
At the beginning of the trail, hikers will find a picnic site (625) just 0.06 kilometers from the start, ideal for a quick rest or snack before embarking on the hike. Further along, at 0.09 kilometers from the start, there is an information point (624) called "Tableau d'informations" where hikers can learn more about the area.
As you continue on the trail, benches (162) can be found at 1.45 and 1.99 kilometers from the start, providing opportunities to take in the surrounding scenery and rest tired legs.
Water sources (340) are available at various points along the route, with the closest one located 3.38 kilometers from the start and another one at 3.69 kilometers. It is essential to bring an adequate supply of water, especially on a difficult hike like this one.
The trail culminates at another parking area, Entrée de Saint-Louis, located 2.05 kilometers from the beginning of the trail. Hikers can enjoy the views before retracing their steps back to the starting point.
Considered difficult due to its length and challenging terrain, hikers are advised to come prepared with proper hiking gear, sufficient water, sunscreen, and snacks.
