The hiking route to Hinteres Sonnwendjoch is a challenging 6.25 kilometers out-and-back trail with an elevation gain of 635 meters.
Located in a picturesque area, the trail starts at a parking area where you can find some information about the area before you embark on your journey. As you make your way towards Hinteres Sonnwendjoch, you will pass by Ackernalm restaurant, where you can stop for a meal or a refreshment at the beginning of the hike.
Continuing on the trail, you will come across Girglloch, a cave entrance worth exploring, located about halfway through the hike. Be sure to bring enough water with you as there is a drinking water station about halfway through the trail as well.
After a challenging ascent, you will reach Hinteres Sonnwendjoch, a peak with breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Take some time to enjoy the scenery before making your way back to the starting point.
It is recommended to check the weather forecast before embarking on this hike and to bring plenty of water and snacks. The trail can be steep and rocky in some sections, so proper hiking gear and sturdy hiking boots are recommended.
