This extremely difficult 13.5-kilometer circular hiking route takes you through a picturesque area with stunning views and challenging terrain. The trail starts at Centro Visite di Cantagallo, where you can find information about the area before embarking on your journey.
As you make your way along the trail, you will encounter various points of interest. Early on, you'll come across the beautiful La Pigna peak, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Continuing on, you'll pass by Passo del Treppio, a natural saddle that provides a nice resting spot.
Midway through the hike, you can take a break at Rifugio Luigi Pacini, an alpine hut where you can refuel and enjoy the mountain atmosphere. Further along the trail, you'll discover the historic ruins of Il Castellone and Casotto di Pellegro, adding a touch of history to your outdoor adventure.
Be sure to stay hydrated as you trek through the challenging terrain. There are several springs and drinking water points along the trail, so refill your water bottle whenever you get the chance. Additionally, check the weather forecast before heading out and pack essentials like snacks, a map, and a first aid kit.
This route is not for the faint of heart, with 863 meters of elevation gain and a duration of approximately 5 hours. However, the breathtaking views and sense of accomplishment make it a rewarding hiking experience for those up to the challenge.
