This challenging out-and-back hiking route, known as Römerweg, spans approximately 6.7 kilometers with an elevation gain of 576 meters. The estimated duration for this hike is around 3 hours.
The trail starts in a picturesque area where you can find the Kummenalp restaurant nearby for a quick bite before beginning your journey. As you trek onwards, you will come across a drinking water spot ideal for refilling your water bottles at the beginning of the trail.
About 2.95 kilometers into the hike, you will reach the Lötschenpass Hütte, an alpine hut where you can take a break and enjoy the scenic views. Continuing on, at around the same distance mark, you will find the Lötschenpass saddle, a noteworthy natural landmark in the area.
Be sure to stop by the biergarten for a refreshing drink about midway through your hike. Additionally, there are information points along the way such as the Kummenalp and Lötschenpass (Römerweg) informational spots, providing insights into the surroundings.
