This hiking route takes you to the beautiful area around Sommet de la Serre Traversière. The 12.75-kilometer trail offers stunning views and a challenging hike with an elevation gain of 227 meters, making it extremely difficult but rewarding for experienced hikers.
Starting at the trailhead, you'll pass by Lac de Crouès just 0.84 kilometers from the start, a picturesque water feature perfect for a quick rest stop. Further along the route at 1.67 kilometers, you'll come across Lac de Paloumères, another lovely natural lake to admire.
As you continue your journey, you'll encounter Port de Balès, a saddle point located right on the trail. At the midway point, 6.38 kilometers from the start, you'll reach the summit of Sommet de la Serre Traversière, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.
On the way back, consider stopping at Lac de Crouès or one of the other water features for a refreshing break. Keep in mind that Pic de Pouy Pradaus and Mail de Salières are peaks located a bit off the trail, 2.81 and 5.07 kilometers respectively, for those wanting to explore further.
