Welcome to the Ciclo-pedonale delle Gole del Nera hiking route! This trail offers a scenic and easy hike through the beautiful natural landscape.
Starting at the parking area near the trailhead, you will begin your journey surrounded by lush greenery. As you make your way along the path, you will come across the Eremo di Santa Betta ruins, a historic site located approximately 1.28 kilometers from the start. This is a great spot to take in some local history while enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
Further along the trail, at around 0.24 kilometers from the start, you will encounter a refreshing spring and fountain where you can rest and replenish your water supply. Continuing on, at 0.95 kilometers from the start, you will reach a viewpoint offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area.
As you progress towards the turnaround point, you will pass by several cave entrances, such as the Grotta del Monastero at 1.26 kilometers from the start and the Grotta di Stifone o del Pungitopo at 0.06 kilometers from the start. These unique geological formations add an extra element of interest to your hike.
At the end of the trail, after approximately 2.715 kilometers, you will have completed your out-and-back journey through the Gole del Nera. With a total elevation gain of 141 meters, this hike is rated as easy and suitable for hikers of all levels.
