This extremely difficult hiking route takes you to the breathtaking Pic de Céciré in a stunning natural area. The 11.776-kilometer trail has an elevation gain of 1227 meters and is expected to take about 5 hours and 47 minutes to complete. Before embarking on this challenging hike, make sure to prepare adequately with water, snacks, and proper hiking gear.
Starting at the trailhead, you will pass by a parking area before venturing into the wilderness. As you make your way along the path, you will come across a beautiful viewpoint at Col de la Coumme, located approximately 4.71 kilometers from the start. Take a moment to admire the panoramic vistas before continuing on to the summit of Pic de Céciré, which is about 5.89 kilometers into the hike.
Along the route, you will also encounter a cafe called Auberge d‘Astau, where you can rest and refuel for the journey ahead. Additionally, there are facilities such as Medassole Inf. shelter for hikers seeking a brief respite. Keep an eye out for the natural spring located approximately 4.75 kilometers from the beginning of the trail, a great spot to replenish your water supply.
For those interested in exploring further, the Sommet de la Coume de Bourg peak is located around 4.95 kilometers from the start, offering another opportunity to take in the stunning surroundings.
As this is an out-and-back route, you will retrace your steps on the way back to the starting point.
