The hiking route to Silvesteralm - Malga San Silvestro is a challenging 11.134-kilometer out-and-back trail that takes approximately 4 hours and 35 minutes to complete. With an elevation gain of 804 meters, hikers can expect a strenuous ascent through the picturesque area.
As you begin your journey, you will pass by the Franziskanerkloster monastery located just 0.04 kilometers from the start of the trail. A bit further along the trail at 1.18 kilometers, you will find a drinking water station to refill your bottles.
Around the 5.55-kilometer mark, you will reach another drinking water station to hydrate before continuing your trek to the Silvesteralm - Malga San Silvestro, a restaurant and alpine hut nestled at 5.57 kilometers. This is a great spot to take a break, enjoy a meal, and take in the stunning mountain views.
On your way back, make sure to stop by the Bodeneck saddle at 4.67 kilometers for a scenic view of the surroundings. Additionally, there are parking areas along the trail at various points for hikers who are driving to the trailhead.
