This challenging hiking route will take you through the scenic area surrounding Crater Swamp. The trail is an out-and-back type, with a total distance of 3.661 kilometers and an elevation gain of 589 meters, making it a difficult trek that will take approximately 2 hours and 19 minutes to complete.
As you start your hike, you will come across the Burj Point, a tourist information spot located 0.4 kilometers from the beginning of the trail. Further along the path, at 0.78 kilometers in, you'll find the Clearing information point, followed by another Clearing spot at 1.19 kilometers, and yet another one at 1.01 kilometers. These points provide valuable information about the area and serve as great rest stops along the way.
At 1.64 kilometers into the hike, you'll encounter Mount San Cristobal, a peak that offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. While not directly on the trail, it's a worthwhile point to visit if you're up for a bit of a detour.
As you continue on, you'll reach the Crater Campsite at 1.8 kilometers in, a great spot to take a breather and soak in the natural beauty of the area. The trail then leads you to the Bulwagan Saddle at 1.83 kilometers, followed by the Crater Swamp itself at 1.83 kilometers from the start.
For those interested in camping overnight, there are camping facilities available at both the Bulwagan Saddle and Crater Campsite, providing a unique opportunity to spend the night in the wilderness.
Throughout the hike, be sure to bring plenty of water, as the trail can be demanding, especially with the steep elevation gain. Additionally, check the weather forecast before embarking on this journey to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
