This hiking route takes you through the stunning area of Gr 406 - Grande traversée des Préalpes. The 9.345-kilometer trail offers a challenging trek with an elevation gain of 778 meters, making it suitable for experienced hikers.
As you start your journey, you'll pass by several points of interest. At the beginning of the trail, you'll find parking areas at Place de la Petite Etuve and Place de la Grande Etuve. Further along, you'll come across Chapelle Saint-Jean-Baptiste and a cave entrance. Along the way, there are also drinking water stations and information points such as Hautes Baties de Cousson and Chemin de Saint Jean.
As you continue your hike, you'll encounter viewpoints offering breathtaking scenery. Make sure to stop and admire the views at the various viewpoints along the trail, including those at 4.6 kilometers, 4.67 kilometers, 3.21 kilometers, 3.28 kilometers, and 3.15 kilometers from the start.
The highlight of the trail is the Sommet de Cousson, a peak located 4.59 kilometers from the start. While it's not directly on the trail, the peak offers a rewarding panoramic view for those willing to make the extra effort to reach it.
