This difficult hiking route will take you on a 9.8-kilometer journey along the Gr 406 - Grande traversée des Préalpes, offering stunning views and challenging terrain.
Starting at a parking area at the beginning of the trail, you'll pass by Place de la Petite Etuve and Place de la Grande Etuve, where you can find convenient parking spots to leave your car. As you make your way through the hike, you'll encounter the Chapelle Saint-Jean-Baptiste, a beautiful cave entrance located midway along the trail.
Around the 2.8-kilometer mark, you'll find Hautes Baties de Cousson, an informational point where you can learn more about the area. Nearby, there is also a drinking water station to refill your supplies.
Continuing on, you'll come across several viewpoints offering breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding landscape. Be sure to stop and take in the beauty of the Sommet de Cousson, a peak located towards the end of the trail. At 4.91 kilometers, you'll reach this prominent summit, providing a rewarding end to your journey.
Throughout the hike, be prepared for the elevation gain of 847 meters and a duration of approximately 4 hours and 23 minutes. Remember to bring plenty of water, snacks, and suitable hiking gear.
