This extremely difficult hiking route offers a challenging but rewarding experience in the stunning alpine region. The 14.653-kilometer trail has an elevation gain of 1032 meters and is expected to take around 5 hours and 58 minutes to complete.
Starting at the trailhead, hikers will immediately be immersed in the natural beauty of the area. Along the way, you will encounter various points of interest that will enhance your hiking experience.
About 4.84 kilometers from the start, you will come across the Sesvenna-Hütte alpine hut, where you can take a rest and enjoy some local hospitality. Further along the trail, at approximately 4.69 kilometers, there is a water source to refill your supplies.
As you continue your journey, you will pass by the picturesque Pforzheimer Hütte and the tranquil Furkelsee at around 7.33 kilometers from the start. These spots are perfect for a break and enjoying the serene surroundings.
For history enthusiasts, there are several historic sites along the trail, such as wayside shrines and crosses, adding a cultural element to your hike.
It is important to note that the route is challenging due to its length and elevation gain, so hikers should be well-prepared with proper gear, plenty of water, and snacks. Checking the weather forecast before embarking on this adventure is also recommended.
After completing the hike to Furkelsee, you will return along the same trail, allowing you to appreciate the beauty of the alpine landscape from a different perspective.
